WHY do you need/want each of these types of insurance? There are people who will explain how, and will also sell you each and more. But it has taken me years to appreciate what they are for, and decided if I should have one vs the other. Health: everyone probably gets why they should have it. Duh - its your health :) Auto: another one everyone gets - protects you in case you are liable for an accident or damage, or your car is damaged/stolen, paying for rental if your car in unavailable, etc. Life: protects beneficiary who may be dependent on you, or because you want someone to have money when you die. Two major types: Term and Universal (this last type can be used as investment vehicle). Disability: Two types - short term and long term to cover exactly that; help you financially if you are incapacitated and have bills to pay or family to support. Homeowners: protects home owners if something happens to the wonderful place they call home. Multiple coverages within that spectrum, like r...

Who Do We Owe Our Success To?

Every generation seems to do better than the previous one. They are smarter (seems like it anyway :)), better off financially, achieve more, do more, see more, etc. And as importantly, they do all this quicker than the previous generation. This isn't the absolute norm, but seems to be generally true - at least from what I have seen and experienced. Sometimes one generation misses out/doesn't make progress, but the next generation definitely does. Isn't that how it IS supposed to work though? Our grandparents worked really hard to make sure our parents had better lives than them (even though that generation wasn't as expressive and didn't take credit as much). Our parents gave us (in my case, more my grandparents than parents) the base that we needed to thrive. And here we are. All grown up and accomplished and much sooner than our parents got to where they left off or retired. We are all tickled pink about who we are. Have you thought about the fact that we owe a TO...

Make sure to Take Time for Yourself!

The mighty Ohio river! Running across it and “run touching” Indiana from Louisville was cool, and emotional. Rivers and water bodies make me emotional especially free flowing water; maybe something to do with my water sign. KY is the 30th state in the US I’ve stayed in for at least a night, but mostly 2+ nights starting with NY, NJ, CT, MA, ME, VT, NH, RI, DE, MD, PA, VA, WV, IL, NC, SC, GA, FL, LA, OH, TX, IN, MO, CO, HI, NV, AZ, CA, WA, KY. Have stayed 5 days - 2 weeks each in Italy, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, France, England, Spain, Bermuda, Fiji and obviously India and the US home. Have called NY, NJ, MA, NC home over the 30 years in the US. Visited 3 provinces in Canada, and a couple in Mexico. Each visit has been enlightening from a history, culture, and ways of the people standpoints and also have had so much fun and excitement! Recently visited India with my wife and son; their first visit to India. We met 50 of my closest family, and toured 6 cities and towns. So grateful th...

Stay on top of your health - Always!

My throat started feeling tingly Monday afternoon. By late afternoon, I had started feeling weaker, but still good enough. I was quite calm. All I had to do was go home and take my concoction for colds/etc; it would stop whatever was brewing. My concoction: Oscillococcinum (homeopathic cold preventer available @ CVS), Echinacea & Goldenseal (herbal supplement available @ WholeFoods), and Emergen-C (available again @ CVS or @ grocery stores). Apparently, whatever I had was fast moving. The next morning, there was no way I was going to be able run my 5 miles. Just getting out of bed was HARD. And it would be irresponsible to pass on whatever I had to others if I were able to go out and do my job. Decided to take the day off. Slept most of the day, because that's all I could do. Today, feeling much better. Cooked some ridge gourd curry to eat with the rice I had made. Used a recipe that gave it wonderful flavor, even the celery I had added to the mix. My run training goal tomorrow...
